Prof. Dr Imme Scholz, a graduate sociologist, has been the president of the Heinrich Böll Foundation e.V. in Berlin since April 2022. Until March 2022, she was Deputy Director of the German Development Institute (DIE) in Bonn. She has worked for over 20 years on various issues at the interface of environment and development, including land and forest use in Amazonia, sustainable consumption, adaptation to climate change, the role of development policy in promoting international environmental cooperation.
Imme Scholz has been a member of the Chamber for Sustainable Development of the umbrella body for Lutheran churches in Germany (EKD) since 1996. She has also held an honorary professorship for global sustainability and its normative foundations at the Centre for Ethics and Responsibility at the University of Applied Sciences Bonn-Rhein-Sieg since 2019. Since 2020 Imme Scholz is a member in the bioeconomy council of the federal government of Germany.
Imme Scholz has been a member of the German Council for Sustainable Development (RNE) since 2013 and was reappointed in both 2016 and 2020. In 2020 she became Deputy Chairwoman of the Council.
