Dr Katrin Leonhardt

Chair of the Board of Sächsische Aufbaubank – Förderbank

Dr Katrin Leonhardt has been Chair of the Board of the development bank Sächsische Aufbaubank – Förderbank since July 2020.

Prior to this, Leonhardt spent 20 years working for the KfW banking group in Frankfurt am Main and Berlin, including as Director and Head of Individual Financing and Public Customers from 2018 to 2020 and as Head of KfW Mittelstandsbank from 2013 to 2018.

From 2022 to 2025, she was a member of the German government’s Sustainable Finance Advisory Board and she has served on the Innovation Advisory Board of the Saxon state government since 2020. Since 2024, she has also been a member of the advisory group to the KfW SME Panel and the Finance and Economic Council of the Association of Municipal Enterprises in Germany, while in 2025 she was appointed to the Reform Commission for the Relief and Strengthening of Local Authorities by the German federal state of Saxony.

Dr Katrin Leonhardt was appointed to the German Council for Sustainable Development in January 2026.
