1972-1975 Fundamental research in genome structure and the gene function of cereal types in Cambridge/England. Amongst other things, in the working group of F. Crick (Doppelhelix ) for the chromosome substructure of humans, animals, plants, bacteria. Study of molecular genetics
1975-1981 Heisenberg scholarship in Göttingen
1975-1981 Applied research in the baking qualities of wheat and basic research in the gene regulation of plants
  Apprenticeship in plant breeding and genetics
1976 State doctorate in the subject Applied Genetics and Plant Breeding in Göttingen
1978 Appointment as a C3 professor (applied genetics) in Hanover. This appointment was refused.
1981 Professor for Applied Genetics and Plant Breeding, Göttingen
1978 Takes over parents’ tenanted farm, Domäne Voldagsen Einbeck, Lower Saxony, a 300 ha market fruit cultivation business
1991 Establishment of a market fruit cultivation business in Langenstein near Halberstadt, Saxony-Anhalt

1996 Establishment of an aquaculture plant in Voldagsen for the production of eels with direct marketing (farm shop, Internet) for diversification and independence of EU support. (1st seal of quality possessor of an integrated fish production business of the Agricultural Chamber, Hanover)
  Successful research project with the support of the DBU for biological purification of sewage
2002 Transfer of tenanted farm, Domäne Voldagsen, and securing of tenanted farm in Saxony Anhalt by purchasing property
