1974 - 1982 agricultural sciences studies at the university of Göttingen (engineering degree) and Hohenheim (doctor’s degree)
1980 assistant at the university of Hohenheim
1980 - 1992 project manager of the Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) in different projects at the Ivory Coast and in Uruguay
since 1991       working as eco-friendly farmer on the family-owned business “Gut Dalwitz” in the German Land Mecklenburg-Vorpommern

 
Honorary commitment

Since 1992       deputy chairman of the organization BIOPARK e.V.
Since 1993 chairman of the supervisory board of BIOPARK Markt GmbH
Since 2000 federal commissioner of the German farmers’ association for ecological farming and he is member of the executive committee
Since 2006 Chairman of the association Mecklenburger Agrarkultur e.V. and of the foundation Parkland
Since 2009 Chairman of the working group for ecological farming at COPA/ COGECA in Brussels
Since Jun. 2010 Member of the German Council for Sustainable Development (RNE)
