The Council

The Council consists of 15 public figures. Its tasks comprise developing contributions to implement the National Sustainability Strategy, specifying concrete areas for action and projects, as well as making sustainability an important public issue. Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel is continuing the national Sustainability Strategy.

Declarations of conformity by the Council with the Sustainability Code

The German Council for Sustainable Development has submitted for the purpose of voluntary self-disclosure declarations of conformity with the Sustainability Code for the reporting years 2014 and 2015. The draft declarations were submitted before publication to third parties for comment in ordert o provide an external perspective on the work of the Council. The opinions of Prof. Dr. Edda Müller, Transparency International Deutschland (in German, PDF, 1.1 MB) and Knud Vöcking, Urgewald e.V. (in German, PDF, 100 KB) gave important clues to further development of the reports, which were partly considered in the report 2015. Issues, that represent gaps are explained as deviation and will be further considered as suggestions for further development in subsequent reporting years.
