Mission Sustainability – We face the Challenge
„Mission Sustainability – We face the Challenge“ has started 2007 as a competition and is continued as a platform for sustainbility ideas. In the first phase of the competition between December 2006 and August 2007 more then 200 entries from Europe and all over the world were contributed. The book to the competition can be ordered here. This year contributions are asked mainly from the fields of arts, culture, education and projects increasing the social cohesion.
More sustainability in everyday life
Besides the description of the idea and the planned change of action in every day life the participants were asked to present their idea in a graphical way. But the Mission goes on – the website has been re-opened for further contribtions. People of all ages are called to make the world more sustainable. Small actions which can have a big impact are demanded. Only when every single person orientates her every day behaviour on criterias of sustainability, things will really change. Besides the description of the idea or project the participants are asked to present their idea in a graphical way.
Through the competition the German Council for Sustainable Development aims to motivate people from all over the world to take action and change their behaviour. Particular emphasis is placed on ideas and projects, which strengthen the social cohesion and face the issue of sustainability in arts, culture and education. The best contributions will have the opportunity for presentation on the annual conference in Berlin on Nov 17, 2008.
"Mission Sustainability" is a contribution to the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development. Until August 2007 162 persons submitted already 204 contributions.
